Live This Weekend – DePaul Alumni On Stage

Happy Friday! If you’re a fan of Chicago theater, or if you’re just bored and looking for something to do over the weekend, there are tons of opportunities to catch the talent of DePaul Theatre School alumni on stage (and off) at a theater near you. Read after the jump for this weekend’s options, courtesy of John Bridges, Assistant Dean of the Theatre School.

FREE:

Glengarry Glen Ross, The Theatre School. Fri & Sat at 7:30PM, Sun at 2PM.

This is a workshop directed by STEPHEN ANDERSON (MFA, Directing, ’10). NOTE: Though this is free, you need to sign up on sheets in the student lounge of The Theatre School building. If the sign up sheets are full, you can show up a half hour before curtain and get on a wait list.

DISCOUNTED:

Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, Northlight Theatre, North Shore Center for the Performing Arts.

(VICTORIA) TOY DEIORIO (Faculty) designed the sound, MEAGHAN BEALS McCARTHY (MFA, Directing, ’06) is the dramaturg, COLLETE POLLARD (BFA, Scene Design, ’00) designed the scenery, and NICK SANDYS PULLIN (Faculty) is Dr.Jekyll. A pay-what-you-can performance on Sunday, 9/28/08, 7PM — available only by walk up, day of performance.

The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler, Dog and Pony Theatre, The Viaduct Theatre.

BRYAN BACK (BFA, Lighting Design, ‘07) designed the lighting, LAURA MAHLER (BFA, Acting, ‘06) is in the cast, and JOHN ROONEY (BFA, Theatre Arts, ’10) is the stage manager. Every Thursday and Sunday performance is pay- what-you-can. In previews 9/25/08 and 9/26/08, opens 9/27/08.

MARSHA VILLANUEVA (MFA, Acting, ‘00) designed the costumes.

Indecent Proposals, Metropolis Performing Arts Centre.

JESSICA (ROSENBERGER) BENNETT (BFA, Acting, ‘07) is in the cast.

The Mark of Zorro,Lifeline Theatre at The Theatre Building.

CHRISTINA NIEVES (BFA, Acting, ’08) and DEREK PERUO (BFA, Acting, ‘08) are in the cast, (VICTORIA) TOY DEIORIO (Faculty) designed the sound.
