DePaul's Merle Reskin Theatre

From Scrooge to Oprah to small theatre companies, you can’t get very far without running into a graduate of DePaul’s Theatre School.

The Christmas spirit is the order of the day at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre  where Larry Yando (MFA ’88) is Scrooge in A Christmas Carol through Dec. 31. Four other alumni are in the cast and many other DePaul people work backstage.

The fire burns and caldron bubbles with Karen Aldridge (MFA ’01) as Lady Macbeth and Phillip Brannon (THE ’06) as Malcolm in Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s production of Macbeth, beginning Dec. 31.

Even Oprah works with DePaul alumni! Teresa Aguilera (THE ’98), Oprah’s senior audience coordinator, is celebrating her 11th season with The Oprah Winfrey Show. The show’s scenic designer, film logger, production designer and set decorator all graduated from DePaul.

If you’re looking for other productions with DePaul connections, check out Los Angeles’ The Actor’s Gang Ensemble Theatre, Emerald City Children’s Theatre, Theatre Mir, Collision Theatre Company, and Sansculottes Theatre Company, among others.

You can read more about Theatre School alumni and students and where they’re performing in the latest issue of Theater School News. And tell us about your favorite DePaul thespian!
