It’s lovely weather for a bus ride together…

Bus Stop

Though it’s generally considered one of the busiest traffic times of the year, this holiday season you might find the roads and airways a little roomier.

According to a study by DePaul University’s Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development, more and more people have been hearing the sounds at the bus stop this year. Intercity bus service is up almost 10 percent, while air travel and travel by car are both down.

These changes in the way we move aren’t just freeing up space on the interstate, they’re having a positive impact on the environment, too. An estimated 36,000 tons of carbon dioxide were kept out of the atmosphere in 2008 as a result of the shift, according to calculations compiled as part of the study.

So breathe in that fresh air, stretch out during your flight and have a happy, happy holiday!
