Julianne Sitch at the WPS draft.

Calling all DePaul soccer fans!  On Friday, Julianne Sitch, a record-breaking DePaul women’s soccer player, became the first Blue Demon selected to play in the new Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) league. She was drafted by Sky Blue FC, the league’s New Jersey/New York franchise, in the fifth round.

Playing at DePaul from 2002 to 2005, Julianne was the soccer program’s first All-American and led the team to its first NCAA Tournament appearance. And she still holds career records in points, goals and assists.

The inaugural WPS season begins in April. Julianne and her new Sky Blue FC teammates will play at Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ. If you’re in the area, stop by to cheer on a fellow Blue Demon!
