And yes, for those doubters out there, DePaul does have a hockey team.

DePaul’s road to the tournament in Grand Rapids, Mich., wasn’t easy. As reported a few weeks ago in The DePaulia, DePaul’s student newspaper:

“The DePaul Hockey Club won both of their games in last weekend’s American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division II Regional Tournament. On Feb 27, DePaul bested cross-town rival Robert Morris College by a score of 4-2. The next day, DePaul trounced University of St. Thomas 6-2. Winning these games means that the club has accomplished their one goal since the season started-a trip to the National Championships….

“DePaul finished the regular season with a 27-8 record which is good enough to earn a fourth-place ranking in the Central Division. Since only the top two teams in each division are guaranteed a berth in the Nationals, DePaul had to win both of their regional matchups to advance.”

DePaul hits the ice for its first national championship game against Siena College tonight. The team then faces Weber State University on March 18 and Kennesaw State University on March 19. If you want to see the action, log into LiveSportsVideo and pay its fee.
