And the Tony Goes to…

5 May

A DePaul Blue Demon may be taking home the Tony during the 63rd Annual Tony Awards Ceremony on June 7.

You’re Welcome America. A Final Night with George W. Bush,” written by and starring Will Ferrell, was nominated for a Tony Award in the category of Best Special Theatrical Event.  Blue Demon Brian Swibel (THE ’02) was one of the production’s producers.

And there’s a second DePaul connection. When the show was broadcast live on HBO in March, alum Kevin Lawson (THE ’91) was the lighting director.  Kevin has worked with another president — he was the lighting director for President Barack Obama’s election night rally in Chicago’s Grant Park.

Check out Brian’s and Kevin’s work in the decidedly partisan show’s promo:

The Tony Awards Ceremony will be broadcast on CBS. We at Demon Tracks will be rooting for you, Brian!
