DePaul Day for Haiti Raises over $4,500

6 Apr

If you were following or participated in the DePaul Day For Haiti, a day of fundraising and cultural activities for Haiti Earthquake relief on April 1, great news! You raised $4,576.70. Go DePaul!

The amount will be split between the Daughters of Charity in Cité Soleil and Fonkoze, DePaul’s partner in Haiti on Zafen.org, a new microloan Web site launched April 1, that has attracted $15,255 in loans, donations and pledges.

The Ile-a-Vache Development Group project received full funding.  This project will start a charcoal production plant to make charcoal from waste so businesses don’t burn wood, saving trees. The group will train existing charcoal producers and encourage them to partner with Ile-a-Vache Development Group to produce charcoal from waste.

Good work, Blue Demons. Keep it up.
