"Yellow lady's-slippers" by Kathleen Garness

Everything’s coming up yellow lady’s slippers for Kathleen Garness (SNL ’89). The scientific illustrator’s work has been traveling the U.S. in an exhibit with the American Society of Botanical  Artists. The exhibit, “Losing Paradise? Endangered Plants Here and Around  the World” features illustrations by international artists of endangered, threatened or extinct plants and aims to bring cultural focus to global conservation. The opening was held last August at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History, and the exhibit then made its way to several museums stateside. The Spring issue of Smithsonian In Your Classroom magazine also included Kathleen’s watercolor.

Next stop on the tour? Kew Gardens in London.

Congratulations to Kathleen on this terrific honor!
