Entrepreneur and media business pro Larry Kramer will discuss the changing landscape of business today as it migrates more and more to the internet, on May 3 at 6 p.m. in Schmitt Academic Center 254 on DePaul’s Lincoln Park Campus. The event is free and open to the public.
In his new book C-Scape: Conquer the Forces Changing Business Today, Kramer introduces “The Four C’s”—consumers, content, curation and convergence, which Kramer says are the keys to understanding and succeeding in a changing media landscape. Kramer argues that as commerce integrates more with the internet, businesses must begin to think beyond their bricks and mortar—they must begin to think of themselves as media businesses, no matter the industry. Commerce today, he says, happens on computers, cell phones, televisions, and anywhere else the consumer wants. As a digital entrepreneur, venture capitalist, former journalist, and educator, Kramer will bring changes in the media landscape to the forefront and show how businesses can successfully navigate a new environment where consumers are in control.
The discussion will be hosted by DePaul alumna and media expert, Diane Mermigas (LAS MA ’88) and is sponsored by DePaul’s New Media Studies program in the Department of Writing, Rhetoric, and Discourse.
